Do you see what I'm seeing? This was some photos I took around Halloween perfect season for the creeps to come out. I just love the holiday,  all the costumes, haunted houses, parties, and who can pass free candies.

In these pics I was messing with my depth of field, getting the feeling of it.
Oh yeah the doll, I picked that up at a garage sale  for $10, great deal. If I had my other mannequins I would have a huge collection of creepy pics for all of you guys to see. I have about 6 mannequins stored away and it's great getting people drunk at parties and scaring them with all the mannequins when they pass out.

Winter is in full effect around my area, either little snow each day or large amounts every other day. In my area we got 20 inches about but luckily the roads have been fine.
The top photo here is of my bathroom and it was a nice feeling seeing the icicles hang from the window as a silhouette to remind me of my favorite season.
But these ones are dangerous, I have almost hit my head on them every time I went outside to get to my car. Sure enough my head would get nicked ever now and again. There was a nice 5 foot one hanging in front of my kitchen but someone knocked it down or it got to warm one day and it fell down.
The great thing about winter is you never know what you will see, may it be a broken water pipe on a main road to put you in traffic for thirty mins bumper to bumper and car crashes which I always love to watch when I'm not int them.
Tomorrow I will head down to the lake to get some water pics, hopefully there is something good down there =]

Every time I drove through my town I saw this old bakery and at night it has a very nice look to it. The old worn look of this town is slowly dying out and I feel it won't last much longer. The town was known for its historic buildings but each year they take another one down, little by little this historic town gets ruined by the new look, of vinyl sidings, that is slowly seeping into its streets. I can only document what it once was and how it should stay but I know I can't make that big of a difference.
This is what I drive past almost every night and this is my favorite part of my hour long drive to and from home. I really wish I don't see a Starbucks replace it in five years. Does anyone have any historical places around where they live that might get torn down? I like to see some pics and stories =]

AF or MF the big question

Tip of the day
I am a firm believer of manual focus, I know it's a little old school but my eyes are not bad at all. Twisting the focus on the camera feels more controlling then just having the camera do it for you. Downside to manual is speed shots while you are movie and the subject is also. This is were manual focus comes in. Make sure you have continuous servo focus on, use your dynamic focus pattern, and lastly use fast frame rate. Some of these are common sense but people do forget to use them, and some photos will suffer for it.

Back in December I picked up a Canon 60D, This would be my very first, good, camera. It was the perfect timing to, the first day I got it snow was falling down outside and was a perfect time for it.

This was the right decision, ever since I got this baby I've been documenty everywhere I go and try to find the perfect photo. I am always looking for one when I am out on the road, I always try to catch rides to places so I can just looks out the window and try to find a location I would later go to. My eyes are still open looking everday for my years perfect shot, who knows maybe I'll get a few.
